Syndicated and Shared Content
Introduction One of the strengths of the Content Management System is the ability to syndicate or share content amongst the different websites on the system. Syndicated Content is a resource which is updated by only one organisation, and displayed on more than one website. Shared Content is a resource which is updated by more than one organisation, and displayed on one or more websites. The Nottingham News directory is an example of shared content. The directory can be added to by any of the organisations signed up to it, and the directory can also be placed on the website of any organisation that is signed up to it. At the moment, only directories can be shared or syndicated. Any user organisation of the Content Management System can set up a shared or syndicated directory, and choose who to share that directory with. We suggest that you draw up a contract detailing the terms and conditions of use of any such directory. This document should make it clear what sort of content partner organisations can add to the directory, and how it is expected to be used. An example document is attached at the bottom of this web page. Technical Details - how to share or syndicate a directory
An alternative way to share or syndicate a directory is to create a Group and give it permissions to Populate and/or Author a directory. Then add any individuals who you wish to grant shared or syndicated access from other sites to this group.
